Power Folding Wing Mirror

Hi again, quick story, n/s wing mirror is smashed off by somthing, after some extensive work involving drilling and !Removed! the unit together I get the assembly back on the car, (albeit without the power folding but I new this was never going to work again because of the damage). All well and good and even the electric glass adjustment works. But here is the problem. The power folding motor is going continuously, (mirror not moving but as I said, that is because of the damage) so I have to disconnect the main wiring plug but this also controls the mirror adjustment. So, the real question is, does anyone know which colour wire(s) I can cut so it will stop the power folding motor but leave the glass adjustment motor working?

You can gain access to the motor by removing the plastic cover. Use a wedge shaped hard plastic tool , You can make one easily, Trace the wires to the motor and remove the power lead. I had the same problem but I went to the local scrap car dealer and got one for £40. Make sure you get a seven pin plug one, folding. heated and adjustable. you can change the plastic cover from the old one if it is not damaged to colour match if you cant get a match. I also got a new one from eBay much cheaper than the dealers.

Good luck
