'99 Avensis : Power Windows Lock Tweak

Hi all,

my wife is pretty upset about the fact that in our French Avensis '99, the child safety lock for the power windows also blocks the front passenger window.

Is there a simple cabling that would allow, with a bit of soldering (exchange cables on an interruptor ?), that the safety lock only addresses rear windows ?

Hi Matt,

It is doable. This may involve dismantling the master switch unit to see what the inside is like.

At a guess 3 pairs of tracks/wires for each of the windows, goes to the switch.

You could do a test with a piece of wire by disabling the windows, then using the wire until the front passenger window works.

This is a guess and an auto electrician could do the work. Got make sure there are no electrical shorts.

Yes, the best case would be the one you describes, wires that arrive on the switch, and not a complicated wiring mess to achieve such locking.

I'll dismantle the plate, and check, take pictures as well.

Matt,

I looked at my Haynes manual and all the wiring seems to go into the master switch. There is not much more to go on.

The front passenger colour is green & white, red & blue(LHD) or red (RHD), and blue.
