Has anyone experienced gearbox whine? We have a petrol 2008 Corolla Verso that has a high pitched whine seemingly from the engine/gearbox when under load (ie accelerating) that seems to go once lift off accelerator. Seems to occur in multiple gears.

Have searched this forum to no avail so far.

Always serviced by Toyota but out of warranty now.

According to to Toyota it needs 4 new bearings. Only done 74000 miles. Always serviced by Toyota main dealer. Not impressed with this lack of longevity but seems to have occurred to others.
