Tail Light Not Working, Bulb And Fuse Are Fine?

Hi,

I have an early 2007 Toyota Aygo Black. I recently noticed that my back tail light (passenger side) was out. Thinking it must be a blown bulb as the driver side light is fine, I managed to get the bulbs out but the filament was not broken. I then tested the lights by pressing my brake, and the bulb lit up.

The next thing I thought to check was the fuse. Again, the fuse was not broken (driver side light working and the metal in the fuse was intact). I tried another fuse as well, just to be sure. Passenger side tail light didn't come on, drivers side did.

So now I'm here, stuck and unsure what to attempt next.

Any ideas and advice would be most welcome.

well it can only be a few things wrong

you either have no live feed

or

no earth

or both (not having both would be unlikely)

use a multimeter to make sure you are getting both feeds at the bulb holder

I don't know how good your knowledge is but......
The Stop / tail light bulb on an Aygo has 2 seperate filaments.

One for the sidelight, one for the brake light.

Usually, only one fails like yours.

If you haven't checked properly, you may have just tested the working side.

Go and buy a......
12 volt rear stop and tail light bulb with 21/5W

Make sure you fit it the correct way round, the pins are at different heights.

I'm sure that it is all you need to do.

Ian.
