The auto lights on my 2010 Avensis Tourer have started playing up. Had flat Battery several weeks ago after car had not been used for 3 days. Battery is fine and retaining charge, so no problem there. Have noticed since that on exiting car, the lights are not turning off automatically the way they used to do. I suspect this has been the cause of Battery drain which prevented the car from starting.

Has anyone else experienced this problem please and if so, what was the solution.

I know I can simply use the lights on manual setting, but I have got used to the automatic feature and want to retain it if I can

The auto lights have different settings, you can have them switch off when you open the drivers door, or after a perdiod of time. On my facelift there's settings accessed via the stereo to change it, but if you don't have the touch screen it might involve a trip to the dealer.

Could be as simple as a faulty door pin switch, the lights should go off as the door is opened, but if the switch is faulty the car doesn't realise.

Thanks very much for the replies.

This appears to be an intermittent fault as it has not re-occurred since I posted the question.

I haven't been able to identify any setting options on touch screen so will go with the door pin switch solution to see if that does the trick
