Hi,

I am new to this forum and I would like to hear if anyone has had problms with the cylider head gasket.

I have a 2008 Auris sr180 D-4D, 71,000 miles on clock and have had to top up my radiator twice in the last six weeks and when I loosened the radiator cap it was under pressure botth times, there was siigns of old leakage around the water pump. I have been told by my local garage that this is very unusual for a diesel engine. any help would be appreciated,

regards,

lesbur

Bear in mind that a) we know that this TSB has been superceded & Toyota's policy shifted somewhat. b ) the goodwill warranty requires the car to have been maintained to Toyota's specification. Ideally within the dealer network but failing that if you can prove (by way of receipts) parts quality & maintenance.

Are you sure that it is the cylinder head & not the water pump? Get it sniff tested.

But get it to a Toyota dealer asap to get it inspected as your car must be approaching the 7 year limit.

Thanks for your help, I have been in touch with Toyota Customer Services and my car falls within their warranty criteria, ( if it is the cylinder head gasket that has gone as my local garage believes as he did smell exhaust fumes coming from the expansion bottle) and will be repaired free of charge as a good will gesture. when I first contacted my local Toyota dealership to book the car in to get it checked they said it would not be repaired free of charge, and the earliest they can check it is the 18th Dec, they were not helpful at all.

I asked their customer service dept for a ref no. which I gave to the dealership so that there should be no hiccups about payment when that time comes, of course it means I am without my car for a week
