Engine Oil Recommendation

Hi guys,

I have Avensis 2001 2.0 D4D (1CDFTV Engine) and need some advise on Engine Oil. I have been using 15W40 Semi synthetic so far with no issues but I was thinking of putting in 10W40 or maybe 5W30 due to better cold weather starting. 10W40 is not mentioned in manual, so is there any potential issues using this oil or shall I stick with 15W40? I have also read on the internet that 5W30 is better for fuel economy as well. Any advice/experience will be really helpful.

Toyota recommends 5w30 meeting:

ACEA B1

API CF-4 or CF, CE, CD

I use this in my avensis's it meets the specs and is long life.

Thanks guys for the advice. I think I'll go for 10W40 Semi synthetic which should be ok. 5W30 may prove to be too thin for an old engine which has done 165K.
