Rear Door Lock Not Working

Hi,

New to the forum.

I have an Auris and the right hand door lock is not working.

Two bowden like cables come from the door latch/lock assembly to the handle on the trim which is used to operate the latch (green cable) and the lock mechanism (white cable).

The handle on the inside of the door is working fine and the door can be opened as normal from the outside and the inside.

The issue is with the lock assembly. If the white cable is seated in the lock lever in the trim (the lever used by the passenger to lock/unlock the door) then the door will not lock when the lock lever is in the "locked" position. The door is always unlocked regardless of the position of the lock lever.

If I remove the white cable from the lock lever and operate it manually by pushing/pulling on the cable then the lock mechanism works correctly and I can lock the door successfully.

If I put the cable in the lock position and then seat it in the lock lever assembly it is actually too short by approximately 10mm - so the ball on the end of the cable cannot reach the lock lever "seat".

I compared the lock lever assembly to the other rear door and everything looks assembled correctly.

So in my opinion, either the cable is too short (incorrectly manufactured) or the door lock/latch assembly/mechanism (Part number: N46L1308 or A046693) is out of adjustment.

It is definitely a mechanical problem, nothing to do with electrics.

The door latch has been acting up since new, e.g. the lock mechanism will not work intermittently and then a local mechanic replaced the door handle/lock lever assembly which resulted in the door lock not working at all.

Is anyone aware of an adjustment for the lock mechanism or have you any other ideas?

Thanks,

David
