The cheapest/easiest thing to do is to get a chip tuning box like the Lindop or Tunit. You can't remap the car's ECU.

Oh & of course this (or modifying the turbo) requires notification to your insurer.

Is it possible to buy and install a stand alone ecu. I've looked at the tuning boxes but I'm more thinking along the lines of:

Induction kit

Bigger turbo

Bigger cc injectors

Bigger front mounted intercooler

Upgraded cam shafts

Egr delete

Dpf removal

In time a Straight through exhaust or just new back box.

I want to keep the car looking standard but looking to massively increase bhp. But I am struggling to find parts. At the moment it's looking like alot of fabricating and specialist work

DPF removal is now an instant MOT fail if discovered.

I know of only 1 company in the UK (although that doesn't mean that there may not be others) that claim to be able to do it & they do so in conjunction with a chip box (as I said no one has cracked the Denso ECU encryption).

What do you consider as a massive increase in bhp? That may necessitate a clutch improvement (& I don't know what, if anything is available).

How about suspension & brake changes? It's not a very good handling car so unless you are planning to run only in a straight line ....

Looking for 400-500bhp! Engine would need to be forged (don't know if you could even get the parts) and clutch would definitely need changing to be able to transfer the power also I don't know if the gearbox would handle the power or whether it would just chew it up. I don't " "think" anyone has tried anything like this in a avensis t25. So I am "flying blind" as to information. It's just going to be a case of slowly does it and 1 thing at a time. (with alot of research of course).

I think I would settle for a small increase in power if I could do a rear wheel conversion to it

Is this planned to be road legal?

Tbh I wouldn't think that those figures are achievable with that engine/gearbox etc. at any reasonable cost. You could just use the Shell & transplant something (probably rwd but then you would have to build a transmission tunnel). Buy a BTCC Avensis kit if you have that kind of money? Or just buy a Scoobie etc.

My mates have all got evo's, skylines, scoobies. My options were/are:

increase bhp to 4-500

Small bhp increase rwd it

Or

Buy a toy car which is easily modifiable.

Obviously doing research 1st to see what's achievable hench why I joined forum. But unfortunately it doesn't look good lol.

Shooting of to work but will have a good think today.

Do you have that companies name who can cracking the denso?

Cheers

Hi,

I don't think toyota and diesel is up for great tuning. There is possible to make ecu remap, you just nees a lot kore complicated gear, cable is not enough and without this there is no point doing metal changes without it. Second thing would be lubrication and cooling. More power equals subsantially more heat for both engine block and oil, the least to do would be change oil pan to the one with higher capacity in order to cool it by mixing cold with hot, bigger radiator for coolant too and better quality oil, preferably 0W20 for better supply during high load.
