Iq Stock Alloy And Tyre Size

I have a bit of difficulty finding the answer to my question: what is the width of the iQ's stock 6-spoke alloys, and will a 195 tire fit the stock rims?

Background: from my previous car I have a set of expensive winter tires in 195/55R15. On my iQ the garage fitted € 40 ecotires at the front, they just don't go round the corner. So I would like to transfer my winter rubber to the iQ. All other threads with this question seem to focus on what's the best looking aftermarket alloy or how big the wheels can go. I just need to now if they are 5J or 5.5J so I can ask my garage to swap tires :)

They are narrow, 5" wheels.

I have an iQ3 and the wheels on that are only 5" wide but 16" diameter and I have a 15" standard wheel in the back as a spare and that is 5" wide too.

I have winter tyres fitted on my 16" wheels and they are pretty good in this cold weather.

Just looked at a tyre size calculator and your proposed new size is only 13mm smaller diameter than the standard 175/65 15 tyres.

Seems the minimum width for 195/55 15 tyres is 5.5 inches though. Don't know enough about tyres to say if that will make a difference or if it's safe to fit. Personally I'd go for it.

Yes, I know the diameter should not make a difference (to speed). But it's the width that I am worried about. Thanks though :)

Well, As I said the wheels are 5" so speak to the tyre fitters and see if they will fit them. My guess is they will without any argument but the recommended wheel width for 195 tyres is 5.5 to 7" wide.

Hi Guys. My question is has anyone fitted 195 55 16's to their iq3 ? the reason for consideration is that there is a vast choice (inc the excellent dunlop blue response) available in this size. I realise that the diameter is up (by .17) not a lot but dont want to upset the feel (or lightness) of the steering. Any feedback would be welcome. Cheers Colin
