Guide To Clean/lube Turbo Actuator Arm?

Hi guys,

Wondering can anyone tell me or provide a link to where and how I clean the turbo actuator arm? I have the usual problem of loss of power on my 2003 d4d. So far I have given the car a full service, eg: changed oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, taken egr valve off and cleaned it thoroughly and today added tin of BG244 into a full tank. All has helped but later today I got the p1251 code and limp mode. Turned engine off and took a good few attempts to turn engine over again although seemed to run a tad better after. I have read that the most likely cause is sticky arm for the vanes so any help in photo format as to how I clean or WD40 the arm would be much appreciated.

Also been advised that the archoil 6600 is good for cleaning the turbo from deposits etc, has anyone tried this stuff?

Cheers in advance :-)

Dont buy the spray cleaners that are sprayed into the turbo of engine etc.

It needs to come apart to clean it properly.

Hi Haco14, I have not tried Archoil 6600 myself but I know others that have and say it works very well and they annually put a bottle in their tank to keep the turbo clean, they say the difference is noticeable so my advise would be try it and see and let us know what you think?

had sticky vanes on my 2004 rav, cured it with a bottle of 6600. still going fine 9 months later.

much cheaper than a new turbo!! 1251 was the code i got when i floored it and it went into limp mode.

you could also feel the hesitation when the revs got to about 2000 but they cleared up above 3000!

Hi guys,

Thanks for all your response's, The bg244 has been in for a day now and I must say it has definitely helped things alot, much much better throttle response although still a bit hesitant but not half as bad. Actually very surprised as to its effectiveness so must have had a clogged up injector also.

As soon as it is through the tank I am going to give the Ar6600 to take care of the turbo as the bg244 doesn't do anything for the cleaning of it whereas the 6600 does.

Thanks again.

Same issues and same fault codes.

Tried the BG244 but didnt make any difference.

Had a Terraclean service which cost £108. The company come out and do it at your home/workplace.

No issues since, so its a thumbs up from me !!
