Recommended Posts

I have just purchased a 2009 1.6 vvt-i Toyota Auris T Spirit and when changing gears the engine continues to rev for a split second before it drops. It is much more noticeable in traffic. IT IS DRIVING ME CRAZY.

I have read it is a fuel saving spec well I am saving a bit of fuel but going insane. HELP.

I think its a slight delay in throttle response tbh as it's a fly by wire system .... But it could also depend on driving style if it was driven aggressively before you owned it it may have learnt to hold the revs just a little longer so for an aggressive gear change I've noticed my diesel does it but only recently

I had a 1.8 vvti Avensis which did this, as did another one I drove. You'll get used to it.

My 2006 Corolla, and my 2009 Auris did this. I suspect my 2012 Auris does, but I don't notice. You get used to it.

Think it is more to do with emissions control rather than economy.

I've driven various modern renault petrol vvt engined cars and they do this too.
