What Bulbs For Heater Control And Fuel Gauge? Corolla E11

Hi,

Need a little advice please if anyone can help.

My 1999 Corolla E11 needs bubls repaced behind the heater controls and the left side of the instrument cluster (fuel gauge)

Can anyone tell me the type of bulbs that I will need to get and what wattage please?

I'd rather not have to remove the dash twice (once to see what is in there and a second time to replace them at the weekend)

Thanks for any help.

Sarah.

They are a wedge type bulb, I got them from Radionics.

www.radionics.ie

Part number 655-9564

You can use that as a guide to find.

I'm nearly certain i ordered a load of them, but will need to root them out.

You are as well to change all of them, as i found out, because when i changed two, others then blew.

If you find them too expensive, i may have a few extra lying around, for a small fee plus postage/packaging.

is you car an e11 facelift?

Hi Mike, it's the pre facelift AFAIK.

It doesn't thave the VVTI engine and the Toyota Badge is on the bonnet, not the grille.

Hi Mike, I picked up a few of the standard wedge bulbs (the ones used for number plate lighting etc) today.

Thae smaller ones (for behind the heater controls) I'd be interested in if you have any.

If you can give me a price including P&P I can send payment to you. Paypal, bank transfer, cash, whatever suits?

Thanks a mill.

Sarah,

I'll root them out tomorrow, and try and send them before the weekend.

How many will you be needing?

Hi Mike, the heater control seems to only take 2, but I could be wrong.

If you have 4 or 5 of them I'd be interested.

Have to drive to Belfast on Saturday evening, so if you could get them to me before then, that would be great.

Cheers Mike.

Hi Mike,

All is good, I passed a motor factors this morning and they had them in stock.

Grabbed a bag of 10 for a fiver.

Hope I didn't put you to any trouble looking for yours.

OK, all is not so good!

I removed the 2 screws holding the plastic instrument surrond and removed it. I also removed the 3 screws holding the cluster itself, but it will not come towards me more than a couple of inches. I tried lifting it up, down, sideways, but it won't budge enough. Should I not be able to turn it upside down to get at the bulbs? I wonder what could be stopping it from coming out more, seems like the wiring loom to it is dead tight and I'm afraid to pull on it too hard!!

Any advice please?

Tilt the top downwards and try to pull it out. Also, you could possibly remove the steering cowl. Did you drop your steering?

Hi Mike,

Yeah, steering wheel dropped to lowest position.

I could remove the cowl, but the cluster isn't even making it out that far.

It feels like the wiring loom is trapped or doubled over and taped up. Either way, the cluster won't come forward.

I can't even get my hand behind it to unplug the connectors.

Thanks for all of your advice and help BTW.

No

It just wont budge more than an inch!

It's free from it's mountings, so it's got to be the loom is trapped.

I'm guessing that there's not a speedo cable attached to the back of the cluster??

I wouldn't think so.

I'll check the haynes workshop manual when i get home from work, and let you know what it might be.
