Radio Stays On With Side Lights

Hi my 2006 Avensis 2.0 d4d the radio stays on with side lights switched on and ignition off or key removed. When you switch lights off radio goes off tried a Battery reset still the same any ideas.

Sounds like a cabling issue. From faded memory, you have a 12v switched supply, a 12v pernament feed, and then you have an illumination feed. Could your cable be shorting accross. You will need a multimeter or 12v test lamp to test.

Like mcorban has said it's probably wired up from the wrong feed, you just need to change where you pick up he power from to feed the radio.

The radio is the factory fitted one and has only started doing it last 2 months it has not been removed or touched!

Have you changed the lighting of the car at all lately, even just fitting a light bulb?

Sounds like you need to get an aerosol can of electrical contacts cleaner and clean out your ignition switch, the contacts. I am sure Halfords and similar stores sell it.

Your illumination feed is affecting the radio. Has the car been fitted with a phone kit at any stage?

No car is standard no phone kit has been fitted, ignition switch is OK

Loom issue would be a loose guess. best get the radio out and test the cabling.

Car now sorted it was the cig lighter socket illumination feed wire shorted to live in socket refited and repaired lighter socket, radio now turns off with ignition not side lights. Was a strange one only found it because when I pulled out sat nav plug the socket came out.
