Rav4 2002 Radio Cd V Radio Cassette

Hi - just replaced my 98 Rav 4 (which I managed to roll and land on the roof) with 2002, 2.0ltr NV version. It came with a radio and cassette unit (which I think is a 58806) and I want to change it for a radio cd version. I have seen a 58812 on eBay from a Celica 2003, which looks just what I need - can someone tell me if the 58812 will work in my Rav 4?

Thanks all

Can't really answer your question fellow yorkshire dweller (Huddersfield) but here is a history lesson from 2002. The NV was fitted with a radio/cassette player , an option was to have the 6 cd changer fitted under the front seat. The radio/single cd in dash that was fitted to the NRG and GX models was not an option. The VX (like mine) had a radio/cassette player and the 6 cd changer as standard. Mine says 18302 on the front of it. If someone has a GX or NRG from 2002 then perhaps they could say what model number it is.

My 2001 GX 2.0ltr Petrol has the Single CD / Radio Unit fitted and has the number 58806 on the front panel.

Hope this helps.

You need to do a little bit of homework first, remove the radio on you car and take a photo of the back were the wiring plugs go, then have a look on eBay at toyota cd/radio units and try match the plugs.

My guess is toyota have a standard set of wiring plugs for the 2001-2003 model but you need to check .

Christine, have you tried your local scrap yard? I have just "upgraded" my cassette for a cd player for £40 from a reclamation place near me. The advantage is they can test them prior to removal. Contrary to popular belief these guys can be very helpful!

Dave

Check your area for vehicle reclamation yards.

My Rav is a GX and had a tape radio fitted. I managed to get one from a breakers yard which was from 2004 Celica CD player and it fitted straight in.
