Aygo 2010 Model Snapped Boot Lift Strut

Anyone here replaced their own boot lid gas struts? Mine broke yesterday. Came off completely. I would like to replace it myself so has anyone changed theirs themselves? Where did you get the part? Was it easy to change/repair?

I need to have another look at mine as I'm wondering if the actual base of the strut (on the car itself) has been damaged and so would need to be taken to the garage to be sorted properly. Anyone had this problem? Did you mend it yourself? Or did it have to go to the garage?

When was your car registered and what is your mileage? if the car was registered from 1st June 2010 and has less than 100,000 miles go to your dealer as the car is under warranty, if the car was registered before 1st June 2010 and you have full service history ask your dealer for goodwill on the repair.
