Recently it's been bugging me that the horn on my Auris sounds like it should be on something like an isetta bubble car and for a bigish car should have something a little deeper ... Anyone changed theirs or agree and have looked into it

Yup, got to agree with you that the horn sounds pathetic, like something from a toy shop. Had the dealer check it out as I was thinking there was something wrong, but it was no, they're all like that. Considered keeping the window open so I could easily shout "Oiiii" instead of giving out a little Peep..

I've seen a few of the threads and there is so many ... I can't be bothered to remove the bumper so will figure ( I'm pretty practical so reckon I can figure her out but I just want something a bit deeper and a lot louder ....

My 2013 Auris is no better, the sound it makes is more like a f**t than a horn.

Mine sounds like strangled cat too - was going to ask my mechanic if he had a 2nd hand one in.

BTW Ben going to look at grill access via the floor tray tomorrow

Ye if you take off the bottom bit that's goes right to the bumper it shows a nice gap all the way up to the top of the bumper think that's probably the easiest way to do it that's the way I went with mine in the end ... As its also quicker to take off than all the trays on top ... But I think horn is easier to do from the top after a quick look but will be looking in a bit more detail tomorrow in daylight

I would like to install something similiar to a train's horn or something like on a ship :D But Toyota Premium Horns might be most realistic option for less hassle :) I would suggest for you to look into that option aswell.

I would love a train horn .... Endless fun but yes I am starting to look round for the Toyota premium horns now for a decent price

Think I might have found a cure after the wife blasted her horn at me earlier .... Turns out the Vauxhall signum has a rather manly twin horn might get one of those new and do some wiring also I got an earful of someone 7 series bmw horn that's quite good as well .... Tbh I've been up at my dad's mot centre and doing mots so you have to test the horn as part of the mot and figured why not just apply one of those horns .... Also after watching top gear I noticed the horn on the 600 grosser that Jeremy was driving when they bought two old barges to drive round London anyway that horn impressed me might buy one of those beauties

Yeah I think mostly the bigger the car the louder the horn. You might get nice ones from the wreckers.
