my head gasket is blown.

the car is from 2005 so an early one.

can i just swap the engine with an engine from 2009 of newer? This because with them the problems should be solved?

No an engine from a 2009 onwards will not be a straight swap, both the head and block are different between a t25 and t27 Avensis so you have to carry out extensive modifications to your Avensis to make the new engine fit
