Windscreen Washer

Probably a silly question. The washer jet on my Yaris is aimed sideways, covering the wiper before it starts to move across the screen. On every car I have driven the jets of water used to go vertically. Before I make a complete a complete plonker of myself at the dealers, is this normal?

Yes, though I find some days it catches the screen and all is well, other days it just sprays the pedestrians passing by!

Mine does the same, although I have fine tuned it a little to protect pedestrians from a soaking!!! I have noticed that a full washer bottle has only lasted about 6 weeks. SWMBO swears blind she hasn't used the washers much and I can't see any leak or puddles on the floor so it's a bit of a mystery.

The washer bottle is quite small, only 2 litres I think. I top it up most weekends....

Yes, as has been said, normal.

I do think the washer as fitted uses quite a large volume of water, more than the "conventional" two jet type which squirt to the windscreen. I definitely have to top up the bottle more than the usual type jets/nozzles in spite of, not because of, it only being a comparitively small reservoir.

Thank you for your replies. Glad to know its normal.

Normal as said and in my opinion far superior to having two fixed washer jets as the system on the new yaris gets the washer fluid exactly where it is needed.........On the wiper blade :)
