Auris Hybrid 60 Plate, Engine Feels Like It Will Stall

Hi All

I have a Toyota Auris Hybrid, 60 plate. Drives nice, MPG is ok, around 45-50 MPG. Nearly 75K miles on the clock. No issues until recently.

Got an intermittent issue, when stationary, engine vibrates & the car shakes as if it will stall. Anyone else had this issue?

The dealer had the car for a few days, & the issue did not occur, & they undertook a full hybrid health check & no issues came up.

Any ideas?

If that is the cause, how do you rectify/stop it???

I had the start of the symptoms you describe. I had a failing coil, number 1 coil. water had ruined the coil, it looked a right mess, rusty, the bottom rubber boot was loose and the spring inside the rubber boot that makes contact with the spark plug was very rusty. everything was wet. When I managed to get a tool to remove the spark plugs, the plug was rusty too.

After replacing the plugs and the damaged coil my car is running perfect again.
