Hi all, just a quick hello from me and my first Toyota ( SR180), loving the car atm but getting worried by some posts ive read regarding engine replacements, hope i havent bought a dud.

The seven year/111846 mile period where Toyota will consider repairs is a goodwill measure - as yours is a 2008 model, it may be either already outside this period, or shortly to be outside the period.

Not all of these engines experience the issue. A Toyota dealer should be to tell you whether or not your car has had a replacement engine under this goodwill measure.

Hey, Thx Frostyballs, date of registration was 03-07-2008, it has full service history (67000) but no mention of replacement parts or engine, getting the jitters now lol.

The service history that came with the car may not show whether or not it has had a replacement engine, and as I said, not all of these engines exhibit the head gasket issue. Given the car's VIN, a Toyota dealer should be able to tell you whether it has had a replacement.

Expecting a call from my local Toyota dealer tomoz so fingers crossed, took it for a run yesterday and mpg and the drive were totally fine.
