Avensis 2004 1.8 Coolant Flush And Change

Haven't had the coolant in my Avensis changed for some time, got a quote at a local garage for a flush and change with red antifreeze, was quoted £70, he said it will take about 2 hours to do. Does this price and 2 hours to do the job sound excessive?

Yes, that is slightly excessive time wise. I changed my radiator quicker than that! Cambelt done in an hour by my mechanic.

Price wise not bad if you include the price of the coolant.

I have changed coolant a few times, sometimes including flushing the system.

On the later cars, the under shield may add time.

I think I currently have the blue antifreeze in my car, hasn't been changed for a while, that's why I asked for the system to be flushed and replaced with the red anti-freeze. I think the anti-freeze only costs about £20. I might watch a couple of youtube videos and have a go at doing the job myself.

Thanks for the reply.
