Engine Wont Start When Hot (2004 Corolla)

Hi All,

I'm having some problems re-starting my 2004 Toyota corolla 1.6l vvti and looking for some help ideas.

To explain the situation, the car starts perfectly first time if it has been left for a while unused. I can then drive the car without any kind of issues or problems and it appears absolutely fine. The problems start if I turn the car off when the engine is warmed up and attempt a re-start. The car cranks, but the engine will not start. If i then leave the car to cool down and attempt a start, the engine will start.

So far I have tried changing the Battery and installing new spark plugs, but this hasn't fixed the issue.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this, or what I can try to fix it?

Many thanks for your help in advance.

Chris

There is a known problem with the 2.0D4D Corolla where it won't start when warm - This is due to a fault in the starter motor, and is fixed in newer replacements ones.

I wonder if it is a similar problem on yours?

Could try replacing it to see if that helps...

No warnings on the display panel. I've ordered a scanner so should be able to get some codes read by the weekend. Thanks for your help, will keep you posted!
