Corolla E11 1.9D

Hey, Everybody,

I would like to ask if anybody had Toyota Corolla 1999-2001 1.9D Liftback?
I have problem that Board computer shows only average speed (no average fuel consumption etc)
As well I have problem wtih speedometer showing, It doesn work at the begging but starts to work later after some driving.

Not sure what kind of speed sensor your year has, the later models had a speed sensor on the gearbox but think the earlier ones were taken from the abs sensors ??

If its a later speed sensor in the gearbox that quiet easy to change, but anything else is likely to need a good garage, after the sensor it could be faults in the electronic units, not easy to identify without the right equipment and knowledge.

Thank you for reply. That's the thing I do not know exactly. I'll go with speed sensor and after will look to electronic part.

If no one comes in to say which type of speed sensor you have, you could look down on to the gear box and it may be there, but you will also find there is already one sensor /electrical connector which is the reversing light switch.

To be sure you need to get hold of a manual for you year / model, like the Haynes Manuals which hopefully will tell you that, or ring your local Toyota dealer and ask for a price on the speed sensor, they can tell from your reg. number what type of sensor your car uses and how much a new one is.
