Turn Indication Warning Sounder

My 08 Avensis has a very quiet/almost inaudible ticking sound when the indicators are on. A couple of times I have left the indicators on when they have failed to cancel. This is quite dangerous in my opinion and I would like to turn up the sound if possible, failing that will a new unit (?) be better or are they all very quiet?

My 05, 55, 09 and 12 plate Avensises all were pretty quiet.

Right-my 03 Avensis was a nice solid ticking noise even above the radio-so it is not all all progress then as models get newer. I have ordered a 12v car turn buzzer. I should be able to fit it in the boot easiest and still hear it well. Thanks for advice.
