Not Mine, But... What Do We Think Of This "modified Iq3" Then

Hi there everyone.. Just so you all know this is NOT my car, just came across it this evening..

Just looking over a few websites for some bits on mine and stumbled across this on Gumtree...

What do we all think then...?

I am also interested in how the seller has got the IQ3 1.33 from 99ps to circa 121HP, increase of over 20hp without any forced induction..

Wanting £10K which is a fair chunk of change but would anyone...? Is the owner already a member on here, if so good luck with the sale..

Here is the linky: http://www.gumtree.com/p/toyota/the-best-modified-toyota-iq-you-have-ever-seen/1112933961

Regards

Stu J

The advert states the engine has been re-mapped.

Are you able to map these engines at all ? I was under the impression that they were very much fixed and not able to have third party mapping carried out...?

Seems a really good increase from just a map and an exhaust system..?

You think or know that this is possible?

There was a topic on the Auris club where a company were claiming they had 'cracked' the Denso encryption - http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/166541-i-heard-today/

However, whether or not they have been successful has yet to be confirmed ...........

Think I would be a bit dubious as to whether this IQ has been successfully re-mapped.

I have looked at (inquired) at two companies, and they both said it could not be re-mapped.

Tis what I thought Mark, thanks ... Wonder if the seller of this £10K "modified" 1.33 IQ3 is not being 100% honest or has it been supercharged?

I have mailed him / her through Gumtree to see if there is more information, evidence and also WHO has carried out the map.. 20hp is a big gain from just a map on a small n/a 1.33l engine when these are the stats on a S/C variant that has been confirmed and evidenced.

Hey ho...

The leather on the dashboard doesn't work for me, It looks wrinkled and not that neat. Seats are nice though and the door panels not bad either. Exterior looks good and happy to see they didn't put black wheels on it.

If I could get an extra 20bhp for only £300 I'd be doing it on my iQ3 too! Interested if you hear anything back from them.

Craig.

I thought that about the leather around the dash. I wonder if it is a genuine NARI or a copy?

The seller might have been duped with the re-map himself by a dodgy garage, you never know?

Also, I f a re-map was easily done I would have thought Aston Martin would have included it on the Cygnet?

Yeah don't think I would buy the "tuning box" David.... It would be for me a safe, tried and tested "off the shelf" option or a live map but it appears the ECU's on these don't let the tuners in easy and when they do get in whatever mapping gets changed over OEM the ECU does not retain the altered map. This in my opinion must still be "dooable" though.

Back to the £10K "show car" would not and could not use as a daily. The interior for me is a little, well yeah.. But it sits nice on the suspension / wheels etc, like the "wide arch" look and the centre exit exhaust. However its not a car I would be interested in for purchase and also think "ten large" is a little too large for this IQ :-)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but a bit more grunt would'nt go amiss. Cheers Colin
