I have bought MR2 2000 with 105k miles about half a year ago, now the engine has gone and I hate myself for buying it. The engine takes about a litter of oil in couple of minutes. I have paid £1400 nw the car is worth nothing, I mean, the car is in good condition, but the engine. Is it worth replacing the engine, or sell it as it is? Please help

Thank you

You can get 'reconditioned' 1ZZ engines for about £400-£500 if you fancy swapping the engine youself.

If you can't do that, you're left with just trying to dispose of the car as painlessly as possible. eBay might be your best bet.

You'll probably get £400-£500 for the car as is, with the fault, providing it's in good condition otherwise has paperwork etc.

Alternatively, a scrap man will take it away and you might get £50 or so.

Sorry you had this happen, but these cars came with terrible engine design faults and you really have to know what to look for when you're buying one. I'd assume that an Pre 2003 car was going to die when I bought it, and be prepared for that to happen.
