Hi

I have looked and read the thread but the link doesn't seem to work anymore.

I'm after some advice please. Does anyone know what tools (socket or spanner size, Allen keys etc) are needed to change the gearbox oil on my Corolla 2.0D-4D

What oil would people recommend too.....it's on 97k

Thank you

If the six speed box is the same as the t sport, it's a 24mm nut to drain and 17mm filler, oil was 80w90 genuine from Toyota, can't see it being much different

Thanks TrevorB that's a big help, however it's a 5 speed box on mine but I wouldn't have thought they'd be that different.

Thanks

Correct oil is 2.6 litres of API GL5 75w90, both the drain & fill plugs require a new gasket part number 90430-18008 x 2 and require torquing to 49nm, the only thing I cannot find is the size of tool required for the plugs.

Make sure you can get to the fill hole, remove the fill plug BEFORE the drain plug to ensure that you don't drain the oil and then find the fill plug wleded in there and impossible to get out and the gearbox dry!

And fill it using a length of hose and a funnel from above, if you don't have access to a ramp and a proper oil pump to fill from below.

if its the same on my avensis 1cd-ftv 5 speed, its either a 23mm or 24mm, you need a ring spanner to get the drain plug as tight for space, make sure car is level,or if you can only get the front up, fill the box then you will have to lower car and let overfill come out its a bit of a pain refilling a pump could be handy.

you can get a haynes manual for the corolla.
