Toyota Landcruiser Automatic Gearbox Problem

Hi Guys

i am new to the forum and need some advice please.

I have a 1995 Automatic 80 Series VX turbo diesel Toyota land cruiser & owned it apart from the 1st six Months of registration, apart from the usual wear and tear items it has served me well and the engine is still strong after 225,000 miles.

I am experiencing the following problems with the auto gearbox.

The overdrive light on the dashboard constantly flickers.

The kick down has stopped working.

The car seems to hang in the lower gears and when it does change up sometimes it thuds.

A friend of mine has changed the gearbox oil but it has not made much difference.

I need to get it fixed and wonder if anyone has any idea what may be wrong and the fix and whom can recommend someone local to me who i can entrust to work on the vehicle.
