Hello

Long time reader, new join etc etc!

We are Toyota fans - despite that becoming ever more of a strain these days ;-)

My better half under went spinal surgery ( entirely successful ) years ago and as a direct result bought a T reg Yaris . Truthfully one of the best cars we have ever had - departed last year at 200,000 plus miles on a 998cc engine and sorely missed.

I acquired a 4Runner 1995 - I work professionally outdoors and got fed up with molly coddling Land Rovers and hanging aroung Nissan garages - often after long walks home! Now past 150,000 miles and I still find myself patting the car everytime I walk past it.

The Yaris was replaced with a 2006 1.3 Yaris SR, but we soon discovered ( certainly for Yaris ) the name was the same, but a rather different animal. More than a few tribulations along the way, but a change ( or rather move back ) in home and job for said better half - we are off-grid and 1/2 mile down a forest track soon highlighted poor decision in picking a low slung model Yaris with low profile tyres.

Trade in Dec last year for a 2006 Rav4 - XT3 I think - spare wheel on the back, 2.2 D4D. Strangely small world - did a 500 + mile round trip to get the car - only to find it had come from the local Toyota dealer originally and only gone South 11 months before! No wonder the reg number seemed familiar. Done us proud through the snow and much loved - but still not the same build or feel of solidity as the older Toyotas. Due into garage in the morning for major surgery - but that's a post for elsewhere!

Hope to contribute with experiences of our lengthy time as Toyota owners, pick up tips and info and find understanding shoulders on which to bemoan the decline in build quality!
