I had it done and shortly after I cleaned out the inlet manifold and was surprised how much carbon was still there and in the egr valve. I was speaking to the guy who did it and he said there is all different levels. The more you want to pay. My car doesn't have a dpf so I didn't see the point paying the extra when I wanted the engine cleaned. I don't know how well it works on a dpf. I won't be getting it again.

Any difference in running after getting it done.?

It was a little smoother but didn't last long. Just ran like normal. There wasn't enough of a difference for me to get it done again but as I said I don't have a dpf. The cost of these things might make it worth doing to stop it blocking.

Is it best to get it done if you have a DPF then or doesn't it really matter either way?

Mine was pretty bad. The hole into the egr valve was nearly blocked. There is the Italian tune up you can do to try and clean your dpf first. Drive along the motorway about 4,000 revs for a good few miles to get the exhausts system nice and hot and this helps burn it off. From what I've seen people are getting the terraclean when the dpf is blocked and in limp mode. There is other cheaper additives you can buy and try first.

I have looked at TerraClean since I saw it used by Ed China on Wheeler Dealers.

From what I know, it is very clean fuel, which may have some additive, that is sent through the injection system in place of normal fuel from the tank.

Now I can think of other ways of doing a similar job whilst you are driving and don't waste doing this process. BG products and similar, or using premiunm grade fuel like Shell V Power are better as the fuel system is cleaned from the tank.

The inlets on direct injection car petrol and diesel will never get cleaned. The diesels with injector systems may have some benefit.

Basically where fuel reaches a part of an engine, the Terraclean may work, other bits of the inlet will need to be cleaned manually.

The cylinders, injectors, exhaust should benefit.

Thanks for the replies.my car hasn't got a dpf.dont think I'll part with the £120 at the moment I will probably try bg stuff 1st if that can clean any internal stuff also cleaning the intercooler and the turbo.and trying to fit an oil catch can but there's not much room in the engine bay.

I have blanked off my EGR valve and my car runs a lot better ever tried doing that? There's a polish company on eBay that sell the blanks for £3 plus it made my turbo whooosh a bit louder
