Light Steering On Motorway

Hey all, I have a 58 plate 1.8 petrol t25. I have noticed recently when on the motorway at around 70 the steering seems really light and seems like I'm constantly fighting to keep the car in a straight line. This happens in all 3 lanes, and the tyres were changed around 6 months ago for goodyear efficient grips. I think my wheel alignment maybe out because when driving straight my steering wheel looks slightly rotated. Cheers for any input guys.

Assuming the tyre pressures are correct a wheel alignment will be required. This will correct the wonky steering wheel. Use a reputable tyre dealer which has the latest wireless kit. They'll be able to provide a printed report showing the settings on all four wheels. Expect to pay around £40 which is worth the money.

Unfortunately this will not guarantee solving the handling problem but will eliminate one possible cause.

Worn dampers or springs would be the next to consider if the alignment doesn't sort the issue.
