Whirring Noise When Turning Steering Wheel

Morning,

Been across on the Corolla forum but started here with my Avensis Verso.

Just started to get a whirring noise as I turn the steering wheel either way. No noise on the straight and narrow. No different feel on the actual steering wheel just the noise.

Power steering I suspect...pump going?

Any thoughts and suggestions. Done 124000 miles.

Thanks

Ken

If the power steering pump on your model is belt driven you may need to retention or replace the belt. If worn they will slip when cornering but particularly on full-lock.

Just had a look and seems to be that it is belt and water pump as the car did a dump of what looks and tastes like coolant on the garage floor and the coolant level was way low. Suspect water pump and belt both need replacing.
