Went out in my new Yaris today for the first time in the rain, after light and medium rain the sensor did not activate the wipers, had to activate manually to be able to see out of the windscreen, had the sensor on the middle setting and also moved it to the lower setting, am I doing something wrong or is it a trip to see mister T

Have a look at page 213 of your Owner's Manual - do you need to adjust the sensitivity??

I usually find that if there is rain on the screen when first starting the car it is sometimes necessary to flick the wipers from auto to on and back to clear the screen. Once this has been done they work fine.

You did have the lever down in the first position I take it? (first position down turns auto wipe on and then the rotary adjusts the sensitivity...)

I must admit, I found the rain sensor useless on my dad's Verso; I guess because the sensor area is so small it is easy for the rain to cover the screen but not hit/cover the sensor enough to trigger the wipers.

Someone discovered that if you disconnect the Verso's rain sensor (It's in the rear view mirror pod) it reverts to a variable-set intermittent, which we've found to be much more consistent and far less annoying than the stupid rain sensor.

If it gets annoying, might be worth seeing if you can do the same! (Just remember to plug it back in if you ever sell it )

I've got the same problem with mine.

It had a new windscreen fitted before I picked it up from the dealer.

They had a quick look when I took it back, sprayed water over the sensor from a spray bottle and fiddled with the connection with no luck, so booked it in for them to sort it on Wed's.

I'll let you know what it was if they tell me.

At least it's under warranty.

Hi Michael.

On mine it seems that a plastic film is missing from the sensor and the sensor was also scratched by the fitter who replaced the screen, both of which would affect it.

They've ordered a new one.

Any joy with yours?

Russ.

Hi to all, after reading the on line manual found as stated on a previous post the arm has to be the first down position works ok now.
