2004 Avensis Random Misfire On Idol

Hi every body I am new to the froum

I got an avensis with two blown valves

so i decide too give the engine a complete make over

i stripped the engine down

put new valves in the head,

new seals,

new rings,

new big end bearings,

service ect ect,

reset the timing,

the car is still running very bad only on idol

I'm getting a random misfire on cylnder number 4

would the timing been set up wrong cause it

or

did any one ever hear of unlocking the vvti cam shaf

any help at all would be grate

The VVTi would be applied uniformly across all cylinders and doesn't engage at idle revs so unlikely to be that.

Possible but unlikely to be a faulty plug but you could swap them over.

A compression test may identify a problem with number 4 - hopefully nothing out of range otherwise another strip-down.

Error codes - but the EML should be showing? Rig up a OBDII tester just case.

should I take off the vvti unlock it and put it back in to place and then lock it
