Windows 10 - New Browser Might Work Better On The Toc Board

I see they've started releasing Windows 10 free for Windows 7 and 8.1 users. I use both operating systems with Internet Explorer 11 as my browser. I find that on this forum I cannot use the Quote or Multiquote buttons and there's other things I can't do but they work OK when I use Chrome. I'll be interested to know if the new browser "Edge" addresses this anomaly.

I downloaded Windows 10 yesterday on the desktop - think it is a worthwhile improvement over Windows 7 and 8.1. Edge seems faster to load, etc than IE11

Yes I find Opera to be good, especially with the bookmark tiles on the start page.

I've used Mozilla, Firefox and Chrome, never tried Opera but I see they all get very high marks in reviews. As I understood it, the Achilles heel of these systems was in downloading Windows updates. I'm not a technophobe, I just want an easy life with my computers so it seems Windows has it with the integrated browser and the free Security Essentials and Windows Defender.

The return of the Start menu would be a very welcome feature, just canny get used to Win 8 without it.

I use all the browsers mentioned, for different sites and applications. Chrome is used the most, then IE then Opera. Firefox when testing or the others are playing up.

Windows updates should download independent of the browsers. It is the operating system and how it is configured.

I use Windows 8.1 on all the hardware I am currently using, and configured it to look like Windows 7. Occasionally I switch back to Metro tiles when doing any technical stuff. Always used Security Essentials, Windows Defender and Windows Live software.

When you have a 17" i7 laptop with 256GB SSD and 1TB HD, it run very quick and I load only the programmes I need.

ToC has been very smooth on any device I own and uploading pictures has been a breeze.

I am in the process of downloading Windows 10 and will have a play.
