Next Big Thing To Look Forward To From Toyota?

Ok so we no longer have the GT4, we no longer have the Supra or the MR2 Turbo.

The Volta doesnt look likely to go into production.....

Looks like Toyota have given up on a new Supra.....

What is there to look forward to? :(

Is it just me or does the Toyota camp seem a bit stagnant compared to Mazda and Nissan who are enjoying their new RX8 and 350z. They also have a new RX7 to look forward to.

What have we got?......a Turbo Yaris <_<

Please someone tell me im wrong and that everything will work out ok :help:

At one point ..

Supra (Targa option)

GT4

Celica Convertable

MR2 (T-bar option)

now .. 190 T-sports are the "best" ..

I'm just hoping they go the super car again soon .. each brand needs one ..

Toyota will be working on something as we speak - do you really think they'll allow the RX8 and 350z to go unchallenged?

toyotas last craze was to see how much bhp they could drag out of a naturally aspirated 1.8 litre engine... and to be fair to them they managed more than 100bhp per litre, which not many can boast!

Fact of the matter is: The Tsport models should have bigger brothers...

Turbo T-sports if you like, or even super charged t sports

but with the corolla tsport being released for several years now and still no sign of an easy way to get hold of the TTE turbo kit....

and the yaris tsport turbo looking like it will never hit the shores....

things look fairly grim :(

At one point i would have bet my life on it, but now im not so sure. No spyshots, no concepts (except for the volta) and what looks like the end of the GTE line of engines.

Either Toyota are being VERY secretive about their plans or they simply have changed the direction of their range which i unfortunately believe to be the case :(

More and more Verso models (dont get me wrong im sure they are great cars), Hybrid Technology etc.

100 years ago, if you had a car a bloke would walk in front with a red flag. Entire villages would line the road to watch. You were rich, extravagent and slightly ridiculous.

With oil set to run out in anywhere between 10 years and 70 years, that may just happen again. Petrol will become so expensive that nobody in their right minds will persist with the internal combustion engine. We'll be lucky if the concept of 'driving' and being in control isn't completely forgotten in a generation of GPS governed ultra-safe vehicles.

I can just imagine being 100 years and trying to explain the concept of driving in the year 2004... trying to explain that you were in control of the engine, the steering and the brakes... speed tested my new bike today with the datalogging... brand new CB1300 Super Four... bigger motor than in my Yaris! :D Managed 0-60 in 3.24s, 1/4 mile was 10.89 @ 122.97mph and it hits the limiter in top at 145mph.

I bet in 100 years time that intercontinental travel is as difficult as walking to Tescos, but that the idea of hitting 100mph on your own would be crazy...

Maybe I'm just talking swollocks... I dunno... it's nearly midnight and I've been writing all day... g'night!

New supra never exsisted... as far as I know it was a wind up

I know a few bits bt I dont like to say anything... I like my relationship with toyota.

nah your right, oil will most likely run out within the lifetime of most of us here on TOC, hybrid technology and then hydrogen gas technology (which is 100% clean and more importantly as close to being "free" as it gets since its derived from water) is the future and hence why its my project next year.

I think Toyota are being pretty clever, theyre ahead of the game cos theyre really the only major manufacturer seriously developing future technology right now, so in 20 or so years when petrol/diesel cars cease to be cost-effective, Toyota will be ahead of every other manufacture out there! Also theyre the most likely to produce the first gas/hybrid supercar... time will tell

i heard that the new Lexus GS range will be using V6 and V8 engines.

The GS300 = 3.0 V6 around 245bhp

GS430 = 4.3 V8 around 300bhp

Also heard that Toyota are developing a 5.0 V12 engine, with around 400bhp....

of course, these are just stories i heard, may not be true... :P

Kenny!
