Hi .. I have just joined and am the owner of a supra that I have always dreamed of but I am posting this question for my brother who had a Celica supra that he owed in 1995 it was his first dream car but sadly he had to sell due to marital problems at the time! I wanted to try find it for him as a bit of a surprise which is proving quite difficult. I was only able to check if it's still on the road and it seems to still be out there and alive.! The reg is A608 KKP Blue Toyota Celica Supra 2.8i. if anyone in this club owns it or can tell me where I could find it it would be amazing. Thanks. Luis

According to a DVLA vehicle check, the Supra with this registration is currently untaxed and has been since 1st September 1996 ( the date when VED was last due). Furthermore no details are held re MOT

Thanks

I spoke to DVLA today and they confirmed this vehicle was still taxed and on the road so I am bit confused. I will keep trying . Luis

Could there have been a private registration number allocated to the vehicle in 1996, which may explain why A608KKP is showing as having no VED and no MOT history since 1996.

Of course If there has been a change in the registration number, DVLA aren't obliged to disclose this nor tell you what the registration number was changed to.

Yes maybe that's reason why they said it is still on the road .. Will make it even harder to find but I will keep looking.. Thanks again

Are you 100% sure he'd still like one 20 years on? I've had a couple of cars that were my dream cars at the time, but as my requirements for a car have changed over the years, they wouldn't be my dream car now. A few things to consider...

What style of car does he currently have? If it's a family hatchback for example, it's cos that's what he wants/needs. If he wanted a 2 door sports car he'd probably already have one (whether it was old or new).

Would it be a daily driver? Cos it's an old car which will need parts, and which won't easily be found in breakers etc now. And it'll be crap on fuel economy.

Would it be a "high days and holidays" car? Cos he'll need somewhere to park it, and need to tax, insure, MOT, and repair it.

IIRC it had about 160hp. That means a modern Insignia diesel would probably leave it standing.

If you were to buy me one of my previous dream cars, it wouldn't matter whether it was "my" particular one (which might be a tatty wreck by now). I'd prefer one in good condition that ran well.

If money's no object then see how he feels about a GT86. Maybe that would be todays equivalent of his old "Beast" (as I recall the Toyota salesmen calling them at the time).

Hope this helps :)
