Keys And Transponders

OK i've landed myself another RAV (55 plate 2.0 D4D XTR on a 55 plate so 4.2), as is to be expected with a used car it came with a few things that needed sorting. The major one that I want to sort asap is only a single master key which was broken and a valet key and a broken master (blade snapped from housing and Battery dead on fob pack). I've had a new blade cut for the master and swapped the remote electronics into the new Shell and replaced the Battery and it's all good. As it works perfectly I assumed the transponder is built into the remote pack as I couldn't see one in the old plastics - am I right?

Assuming the transponder is in the remote pack I was given a pair of RAV style fob remote electronics packs that the previous owner had intended to pair but never got round to. Both have a white O printed on them but otherwise look identical with the same two buttons on the front and 60081 on them which differs from the working fob. I've tried doing the transponder pairing process with them (I had spare key blades cut) but got nowhere. I know Toyota changed the supplier of key fobs between Valeo and Denso? on certain models at various stages, my concern is as I couldn't pair them have I got incompatible remote packs for my car? The fall back option is to use TIS later this week when i'll be able to find out what the car is seeing, but i'm wondering if I will need a different set of remote fobs as i'd prefer to sort it while I have TIS available.

So it looks like the 50171 fob I have working and paired is different to the 60081 433MHZ with 4C I've been trying to pair. Guess I need to source a 50171 with a 433mhz 4D setup but if anyone could confirm i'd be grateful. TIS access is due at the weekend so I can confirm myself then but it'd be nice to source another key if needed so I can look at pairing at the same time rather than doing the 'dance' next week.

Also randomly the local dealer told me just the internal fob is £137.40, a full key with blade cut to the car and the fob internals is £103.08, they won't however help me as i've only got the new keepers slip and not the full V5 yet or a bill of sale, even though they acknowledge I could easily forge a bill of sale.

How do I check what MHz etc my key is ? Do I have to split the key and take a look ?

That's a horrific quote, sounds like they are adding an hours labour etc.

Decided to buy an uncoded blank and get it cut etc. The process for coding seems a bit odd but I shall give it a whirl. Out of principle I wouldn't pay £250. On my LCR I only paid 120 fully programmed for a flip key.
