Stu's Aygo

Hello All,

I am returning to the world of Aygo's, after an 18 month affair with BMW, I now have
a young family, and require a cheap, economical commuter again, so back to the
Aygo!

Some of you may have seen my previous posts, when I ran an 09 Aygo Platinum upto 105k
miles in just under 3 years (130 mile per day commute). The car was so good at taking the miles, fun to own, and the service I received from Toyota was top class, so I didn't hesitate at buying another.

2 weeks ago I bought a 2014 4 door Aygo Move with Style, it is white with a black roof, has built in tom tom, Aircon, alloys, tinted windows,DRL's free road tax & 972 miles on the clock. The salesman informed me it was referred to as the final edition before the new shape came out in 2014.

so far I am really happy with the car, and I like the extra bits it has over my old Aygo, it feels a lot newer than the 2009 car, it even has a nicer gear knob :)

I plan on giving updates at each service / maintenance , or issue I encounter. Hopefully this will be useful for others to see high mileage ownership.

Stu

1100 miles - This Morning I noticed water in the boot (I have a boot liner, so this was easily visable), I have read before about this being a common fault, although it never happened in my old Aygo. I will see if it happens again after rain, If so I will take it to Toyota to see if the seal can be replaced under warranty.

welcome back to the forum

i wouldn't be too concerned as toyota know where the leaks can come from

and will have a solution for your car,so all will be good soon.

not like the new shape ,there seems to be issue after issue with them

and not many fixes, your better off with the original shape.

Hi, what issues has there been with the new shape as I haven't come across any yet apart from the shock absorber problems? The old model was notorious for leaks although my old one never had any leaks.

I returned to the Aygo after a years flirtation with a Honda Civic which kept going wrong. Managed to get an ex demo one on the cheap. Super reliable and so cheap to run. Let's hope it stays reliable unlike the Honda.

Good choice, I've got a 2014 move with style final edition of the old model. I've had no leaks in the boot so it could just be down to luck of the draw.

Aygo is booked in at Toyota next Friday to have the leak sorted.

Unfortunately last night on the way home along the M3 a KIA in front of me flicked up a small rock (lots of road works, it probably came from) that hit the driver side pillar next to the windscreen. It was the type of bang that i knew would leave a mark..

When i got home a big chip is on the paintwork exposing the bare metal, and a scrape higher up above the door. I have been to a local spray specialist, and been quoted £150 for a full fix / spray, not just a touch up.

booked in for 6 & 7 Oct :( o well.. these things happen.

Apart from the Mirror Link, Sat Nav and Reversing Camera, are the other issues common on most cars or hit and miss as I don't have any knocking on mine and starts first turn of the key?

I am absolutely gutted, my aygo is literally filling up with water in this rain, I have taken out the boot carpet and the spare wheel space is like a pond. I urgently rang Toyota and advised of the seriousness but unfortunately my appointment for next Friday is the earliest they have, and it cannot be brought forward. I have only had the car roughly 2 weeks :(

Cars gone into Toyota today, they phoned me, and where very apologetic. I was advised it will be sorted and not to worry. I feel pleased they now have the car and are sorting it. I look forward to getting it back next week, all dry.

I got my Aygo back from Toyota yesterday, very pleased to be reunited with my car after a week :)

The work carried out as follows;

3rd Rear break light unit replaced, rear light seals replaced, roof seals replaced, extra sealent put In gaps etc.. I was advised this is the standard warranty fix for leaks and it should now be fine.

I really hope the leaks now stop. But time and rain will tell.

For now I'm just really happy to have my car back :)

My 2010 version leaked around the rear lights so they fix they applied worked for me. The seals around the door look very weak so it's only a matter of time before it returns. The Mk2 seals look a lot better. Good luck :-) other than that I never had anything go wrong in the four years I owned it.
