Replacing Bulbs In Instrument Cluster

I need to change bulbs in the instrument cluster (speedo, tacho etc) as well as those in the aircon control panel.

The instructions I see on line are not clear on how to remove the plastic surrounds. Specifically:

  1. the cluster finishing plate which is the thin long piece of plastic that goes around the ignition key hole over the steering column; and
  2. the main plastic surrounding the dials.

I have removed five screws, but nothing is remotely loose and I cannot find any more screws to remove. Everything I read just says to remove the plastic bits. One forum suggests that the long plastic piece just pops off.

Given that finding parts for this car in Australia is like mining for gold in my toilet, I do not want to accidentally break anything. My car is completely stock and in pretty good condition...well, for its age, but that's another story.

If anyone has any detailed pictures, videos or instructions on removal of the surrounding plastic bits, please let me know.

Also, does anyone know if 'normal' LED dash lights sold on eBay will be dimmable (like the ones on the standard car)?

Cheers

Kevin
