OK I've read the howto and it looks easy but I have not attempted it due to the fact that I am unsure as to what to find at the back of OEM head :

What's the wiring layout like ?

How can I pull power to drive an amp ? etc etc

Where can we find this information ?

Many thanks in advance.

Once you get the vent fascia off all the wires etc are on plugs and they are all colour coded so you cant put them back the wrong way.......as for getting power to an amp etc there is a rubber grommet type thingy just behind the Battery cut the end off and shove your live wire through it. Take the glove box off (it easily comes off) and then search, it is a tricky process so dont lose your temper when you dont find it first time.

dont try and tap the amp from the back of the head whatvever you do!

must be conected directly to the Battery!

best to feed the wire through the car before connected it to the Battery

I have found the grommet thing for feeding the cable however I just want to be positive that I connect up to the live of the Battery (ie take off the red cap and slap my wire in there) Is this right what saftey precautions should I take ?

Nope it's the infinity basslink x

Thew manual says +batt(directly to the car Battery with a 20A fuse) and GND und which I'm going to connect to the chassis in the boot)

Any ideas How I get it onto the Battery ?

is it a sub+amp in 1 box, you need to feed the wire throught the nipple(you have to buy the amp wire separately approx 30 quid)

Thanks for the help mate :

Dunno about the connection pack(it's in the car and I'm in bed :P) but I will test it with a volt multimeter however the sub is the infinity basslink x.

U missing ur control wire (normlly thin blue or green)?  Frm HU to amp/sub unit........

That's correct : Where the heck do I plug that into the OEM HU ? The docs say that it's looking for a +5v or more input to enable switching the unit on.

However the sub comes with a remote level 'thingy' but that's obviously to control the level.

Looks like we're close : If you can let me know where I plug the blue wire I'd be very much obliged.

you need a wire that is live only when the igntion is on. OE stereo has the ACC wire that does exactly that.

you could splice a lead onto there and then that should suffice to inform the amp that it is time to switch on
