Hello all, I'm Gareth and I'm from the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales.

Bought a 2003 Avensis Tourer 1.8 VVT-i T3-X a few days ago and I love it! Feels so solidly built, love the boot space and clever boot tray under the liner and everything works as it should bar two things. The first is the fuel MPG central display, I think the bulbs have gone, it can be seen (just!) so I know its there but its very very dark and this'll be fixed as and when I have the funds to get an electrical mechanic to do it but more importantly I have the engine management light on after the test drive was complete and the money handed over, literally 5 minutes into being the new owner. The man I bought it from said it'd never had that problem before so he was surprised it came on. Luckily he knew a man who is a mechanic and after meeting him, he diagnosed a faulty lamber sensor (sensor 1 placement 1 I think he said?) Well he said it was the one above the cat so he turned the light off and said he put the sensor in a test mode (I think thats what he said?) so if it came on again it'd automatically knock itself off? Well that was yesterday and today it came back on?

Guessing it'll need replacing, any idea of how much that'll set me back or if you can just program the EDU to turn it off perminanety?

welcome to the forum :)

Looks like a nice car but you should be aware that some of those engines can develop an oil burning problem so keep an eye on your oil level.
