It's like roaring when accelerating hard. Comming from the front of the engine.

Yes it is. But there is a small hole in the bottom of the air intake box. Is that normal?

If it's on the 'outside' of the filter it's probably just a drain for any water that gets pulled in or condenses in the box.

If it's on the 'engine' side I'd think not normal and starting looking for a loose hose end - probably to do with the emission control stuff.

You're right. It's on the outside, probably for drain. Not the cause.

There is a kind of squeaky noise close to the alternator. Could that cause the problem?

Sounds more likely to be the drive belt, possibly a bearing (alternator/water pump?). Probably not the cause of the roaring, but you should check it out anyway as it could be a first sign of something that will just get worse.

I did the water spray test and the noise disappear when i put water. My car is 43k miles do you think i need to change the drive belt?

Check the water pump and alternator...loosen the belt and remove, then spin each by hand, they should by silky smooth and silent.

I had to change my daughters yaris water pump that had this similar grumble.

I removed the belt. The water pump and alternator are smooth but one of the pulleys moves a little bit. Could it be the reason?
