Hi guys i am thinking to install a after market cd stereo in my e12 corolla. My factory unit currently is working fine however doesnt have mp3 support.

I wanted to know if i remove the original stereo unit from the interior, and then place it back in when i sell the car, upon re-install will i need a radio code?

If so where do i find this code? I do have the original manual also. Thanks

Not been aware of any code.

Had my Battery disconnected for a couple of days and the radio restarts without any code needed, just needs the stations retuning.

Thats a good start i guess, but i wanted to know if you remove the radio unit, and if it would ask for a code upon re-install?

I bought a Jeep couple of years ago that needed the radio code. I looked on the web where somebody said all Chrylser radios had a factory default setting and all you had to do was press all the station buttons simultaneously then enter code 0000 so I tried this but it didn’t work. I pulled the radio and got the serial number then phoned the Jeep dealer in Glasgow with the VIN and serial number and he gave me the four digit code in about two minutes.

If you buy a new Vauxhall, with the document package comes a card with the VIN, Engine No, Trim Code, the Key Number, the Radio Type/Code and the paint code so this is really handy info to have at hand. I looked the document package with my present Toyota but it doesn't give you the radio code.

If there’s no info in your handbook I suggest you phone the Toyota dealer with the VIN and radio serial number to see if they can help you.

Once the power / Battery has been removed from the unit , its the same as if its physically removed.

As you can see from the owners manual , there is no mention of any code.
