Probably A Dead Remote Battery?

Morning all

I have a UK 57 Plate (2008 reg) Rav4 Diesal, for the past couple of days the remote has been hit and miss opening the car for me, this morning - nothing, dead even walking around the car in close proximity with the key. I opened the drivers door with the key and set off the alarm (wow that's loud! my neighbours seemed to really enjoy it at 6am).

So I Locked up the car and used my motorbike to get to work, my wonderful wife is taking the key to the local main-stealer later for a replacement Battery and im hoping that will have it fixed.

just posting this on the off chance someone has experienced anything else causing this issue in case I need to get the spanners out this evening (its too cold for motorbikes when your old soft like me)

Also Spare keys? mine came with a spare (probably lost it) that didn't have a remote unlock on it, any advice on buying spares cheaply?

Thanks

Bry

I'm pretty sure turning the ignition on with the key stops the alarm.

As Alan says using your key in the ignition should turn off the alarm.

Your car should have come with 3 keys - 2 with buttons & a grey "valet" key. Possibly a specialist auto locksmith could help you. You can probably buy the blanks etc. on eBay & iirc there is a tutorial somewhere on here for linking/teaching a new key for your car.
