Window Lockout Switch Motion

I have a 2001 British spec Avensis Vermont liftback. Only the drivers door window goes up and down (Back windows have cranks so not applicable)......... The button that locks the passenger out from raising/lowering does not move.

I cannot remember if it is the kind you press and it stays down - press again to allow it to pop up, or if it is a rocker type that you push away/pull towards you.

Will someone please let me know which action I am looking for.

I figure I will spray it with a windex type cleaner. I suspect it has a coke spilled in it to make it stuck. I tried liquid wrench, but that did not work.

Thanks,

Terry

On the Toyotas we have had we've had the type of switch that when depressed to lock, stays in the depressed position and we have had the rocker type switch.

DON'T try to lubricate the switch yourself - as it requires specialist lubrication and there is currently an extended recall for certain models where the master switch has worn, and been lubricated with an unsuitable lubricant. Smoking and or fire can be caused through this type of action.
