I looked at a Surf today with a view to buying. Can anyone tell me how you open the tailgate please?

​Window worked just fine. I could see a lock and handle inside (which appear to be stuck), but how do you open it from the outside?

Are you sure the rear window winds down fully. When the window is fully wound down the tailgate latch should pop up.
