Turtle run (T180 DCAT 2006 model)

Bought this Avensis Model over 3 years ago,

Very recently, driving along the highway at 80 mph at 4th gear, it decelerates, it limit it's RPM to 2000 and runs like a turtle.

And when you put your pedal to the floor nothing happens.

If you turn the ignition off for several minutes, it run again revving up to it's max below the red line.

But the vicious circle is happening again and again.

Engine warning lights are turning on and off, but most of the time it's on.

Cleaned the EGR very recently.

Done a lot of long drives from Peterborough to Scotland.

Driving only on 2nd gear urban to keep the rev high.

I haven't been to a mechanic yet to check the fault.

Kindly lead me to the right direction and what kind of fault am I going to expect.

Without a code reader it will be difficult to tell what's happening but it very much looks like something is throwing the ecu into default or limp home mode. First thing I would do is get the codes read and go from there. Having said that, if the egr valve has failed or if the electrical connection to the egr is loose would produce those symptoms. If that's the case, it could be an easy fix.

Yup we found the code and it's about the DPF and they are expensive..........
Any kind comment.

How about changing all the O2 sensors, can this help.

Ok Changing O2 sensors will not help. As your DPF is now blocking the exhaust from the engine. Better to get it repaired before it causes damage to the engine and other exhaust components.

O2 sensors are only there to measure levels to oxygen left in the exhaust gases. if High meaning mixture too rich, if low means mixture too lean. These sensors send feeback voltage to the ecu which then decides to adjust the fuel injection to give a moderate or best value mixture. Your issue has nothing to do with o2 sensors. Its happened probably because you have been doing short runs (dont know about this). the essence is that your dpf didnt get a chance to burn off all the soot and mess it gathers.

An idea might be to use something like BG44 and give it a good blast down the motor way staying in high revs, this will definitely help the situation (If you can get going).

Having said all of this, there are companies out there that take off your dpf and manually burn all the crap off it.

hope this helps.

Regards,

Waqar

What is the code though. I have said all above assuming that your dpf is clogged. It might be a code which might mean something else.

I forgot to get the error no.

But I saw it on the screen DPF.

Tried to buy a Lucas DPF cleaner and blast along A1 at 3rd gear (3500rpm) 70MPH.

Again the rev. got stock to 3500 RPM,

Hit the breaks and shift to 2nd gear and revs to 2000rpm and does not go up anymore.

It happened 4 times when I had my run yesterday. Peterborough to Huntingdon and back.

It's really getting to my nerves now.

i would say go to dpf specialists and get them to take it off and burn the crap out of it. Should be cheaper than the stealership.
