Auris Car Alarm Going Off.

I have a problem with the car alarm going off randomly on my 2007 Toyota Auris. Is there a common problem on the Auris which causes this? Is there also a way to disable/disconnect the alarm to keep my neighbours happy until the problem is fixed?

lock the car with the mechanical key, it shouldn't arm the system.

Likely causes could be an old Battery reaching the end of it's life & triggering the voltage drop or something inside triggering the motion sensor (you should be able to switch that off).

I have the same car as you and had this problem for months until I tried fixing it by using wd40 or similar on the bonnet switch next to the bonnet release. This seems to have cured it (although it still goes off in high wind sometimes).

The Battery was a bit suspect, so I've changed it just in case.

The bonnet switch, is that the little micro switch located on the bonnet catch mechanism?

Mine kept going off because I have a steep drive, when my brake cooled down the handbrake would release (contraction)and cause it to ever so slightly move forward (I always park nose down with it in reverse gear) but the movement causes the alarm to go off, imagine how long it took me to figure that out.....
